Losing a pet can be as traumatic as losing a family member, because in many cases that’s what they are. It’s natural to have feelings of
sadness and it takes time to overcome them. So don’t feel embarrassed or ashamed by what you’re experiencing. It’s all part of the grieving
process everyone goes through.
Many people have questions about the process of euthanasia. We always try to make this difficult time as easy as possible for both you and your pet. You
are welcome to be with your pet and you can stay afterwards.
At times we will place an IV catheter so that we have a secure and painless access for the euthanasia solution. The high dose of anesthetic then causes the
heart to stop.
We offer pet cremation which can be either Group Cremation (your or Individual Cremation (your pet's body will be cremated individually at Bellevue Animal
Hospital, and you will be contacted by phone when your pet's remains are ready to go home). We have a variety of urns to choose from as well.
Please call if you have any questions about any aspect of the euthanasia process.
Here are a few of the urn choices. There are many more urn options than pictured here.
